The Constitution of the Society of British Columbia Conservation Officers (amended 2003) states our purpose as follows:

- To operate primarily for charitable purposes in offering significant benefit to local communities and the British Columbia public.
- To provide services which assist in community education programs.
- To provide programs and services which contribute to the conservation and protection of the environment.
- To maintain an association of Conservation Officers within the Province of British Columbia to promote mutual and public interests.
- To promote, encourage and affect public education, and education and training of the members of the Society in all matters relating to/or affecting their vocation.
- To endeavour to secure a greater degree of public recognition and public involvement in their vocation for members of the Society.
- To work with the prescribed policy and chain of command structure where possible to better the achievements of career enforcement Conservation Officers within the Conservation Officer Service.

- He or she will give credit for facts or opinions where it is due He will treat all business matters as confidential
- He or she will not give an opinion unless it is honest
- He or she will discourage untrue or biased statements concerning the organization for which he works or it's personnel
- He or she will endeavor to further the education of the public in the purposes and the activities of the Society and the Conservation Officer Service
- He or she will continue to improve his knowledge in order to increase his usefulness as a Conservation Officer
- He or she will do his utmost to train and further the advancement of subordinates
- He or she will not sponsor an application for admission to membership in the Society when he believes that the applicant is not qualified
- He or she will never consider that membership in the Society makes him more capable or gives him preference in matters of wildlife conservation or employment
